The best thing today – OCTOBER 24, 2012

I wasn’t aware of Waldemar Swierzy’s work until I read this post (which references this article). As I mentioned before, I’ve been pulling myself out of the habit of not drawing and the looseness and freedom of Swierzy’s work really appeals to me, simple shapes arranged in rows to create a forest, a flowing stroke of red paint that transforms into a cockerel’s head and a drop of paint, bleeding into the paper and prodded and pulled with a brush to make an eye. Just look at that eye!
